Deadline approaching! How new ADA Regulations can affect your next corporate meeting

ada2010revisedreqIn 2012, hotels were facing a tight deadline to comply with new ADA regulations related to the accessibility of their swimming pools, wading pools, spas, etc.  In response to public comments and concerns, the ADA extended the compliance date to January 31st, 2013.  By this revised deadline, the rule in question requires hotels to make their existing pools accessible by installing lifts or ensure an accessible way for people with disabilities to enter and exit the pool.  All existing pools and spas at lodging facilities must do comply if it is “readily achievable”:

When conducting a site search and selection, corporate meeting planners should be sure to ask the hotel if their pool will be open during the time of their event and if construction will be a concern for their clients and attendees.  As meeting planning professionals, we all know how renovations can affect your corporate meeting!
