Last week, we held AMI’s internal Core Training Meeting for its executives, corporate meeting planning professionals, and event planners at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel, a gorgeous and newly-renovated property! It was the perfect location to host this important gathering of our growing team. Besides training on new tools/procedures and providing updates on the exciting future plans for AMI Global Meetings, it was also an opportunity to get to know one another a little better and bond as a team. We believe strongly in the power of a good team-building session and create them for our clients all the time. And so, for this meeting, we decided to practice what we preach!
The task: Create a mask that says something about yourself using a variety of fun materials laid out on a table. Ready, Set, Go!
Afterwards, the team was asked to describe why they designed their own mask as they did and also to comment on others’ mask-making style. Did someone take all the good supplies? Were some vocal? Did some put more effort into their mask than others?
What We Learned: Besides that, we have a creative bunch of meeting planners we discovered that, although each person went about the activity in their own way, in the end, it was all about communication and appreciating each others’ differences. In this age of “crowdsourcing”, the whole world is learning the power of individual minds collaborating to solve all sorts of problems and challenges. We need all types, thinking in new ways and working together. So watch out, the AMI team is fired up!
